Friction Wheel Stops

They are usually located at the end of tracks in workshops and yard areas for rolling stock where relatively low speeds are operated or where maintenance vehicles are parked.

They attach to the rail profile and couple with the rolling stock wheel in case of impact. The friction shoes placed behind the top of the wheel are used to dissipate the impact energy in the same way as Friction End Stops.
